Silicon Valley investor takes 15th trip to Lake Tahoe as reward for Twitter thread

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (The Egg) — Silicon Valley angel investor Jay Calzone posted a successful Twitter thread yesterday educating people on the importance of investing other people’s money, and will reward himself by taking his 15th trip to Lake Tahoe this year.
Calzone posted the thread in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, starting with the first tweet: “Get out of bed and do something,” with a thread emoji at the end, indicating the start of a knowledge journey unparalleled by any college or university course.
“What have you done to provide value today?” Calzone wrote. “If you can’t convince 10 people to give you money to invest, you have no business being an investor.”
The Twitter thread was well received among other investors and startup founders, amassing 48 likes and 11 retweets on the first day.
Calzone posted a follow-up tweet thanking his Twitter followers and explaining that he is going to Lake Tahoe this weekend, a reward for his hard work and to “recharge for another week of giving back” to his community.
Local residents of Lake Tahoe are taking the news of Calzone’s arrival poorly, with many expressing anger at his frequent visits to the region.
“It seems like we can’t even get a weekend to ourselves without the investors coming to town,” said local resident Frank Turlson. “I almost got run over by one on an e-bike last weekend. I heard a whining noise and saw a brightly-colored puffer vest come racing over the hill … I knew at that point I was in trouble.”
Before taking his trip, Calzone left his followers with one last platitude before taking a break from Twitter for the weekend: “Investing is just making money with the money you already have.”
